Prison Pastor, headquartered in Umuahia, Nigeria, is the largest single prison ministry in Nigeria — with outreach to nearly all the prisons in Nigeria.
Dr DC Nwogu, former special Chaplain to the Government House and president of NACRO, Umuahia, launched Prison Pastor in 1986, after serving six months in a federal prison for Assault/Ritual-related crimes. Dr Nwogu accepted the Lord in the prisons and now sought to help other inmates experience the hope and forgiveness he had discovered.
Our mission is to exhort, equip, and assist Nigeria’s prison inmates and those impacted by crime.
Prison Pastor missions is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen.
- teaching seminars,
- weekly Bible studies,
- and one-on-one mentoring
Our staff and volunteers represent a broad range of churches, both Pentecostals, Charisma tics, Protestant and Catholic; rural, urban, and suburban; of differing ethnic and racial composition; and with various worship styles.

-
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
-
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
-
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
-
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
-
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
-
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; of they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and of they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
-
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
